OverviewThe Template Manager also provides the capability to create user templates. To add a directory for user-created templates, select the Create Template option under the File menu in Template Manager. To get to this screen, (SAS Language Elements Templates Browser), from the Editor, click on the Template icon on the Editor's Toolbar. From the Template Manager, open the File menu and select Create Template Folder as shown below. The Template Manager will prompt you for a Template Folder name, the name of the folder where the new templates will be stored. Enter a name for your new template directory and click the OK button. Template Manager opens the new directory in the browser window, on the left side. From here you can build your own hierarchy of directories for templates, which ASAP will track for future application. Create new folders and templates by right-clicking your template folder and choosing the New option. You can also use this menu to cut, copy, and paste templates, as well as to remove or rename them. To create a new template, select New from the pop-up right click menu, then select Template from the secondary menu that pops up beside it. This creates a new blank template. To name the newly create template (i.e., rename it from "New Template" to "xyz"), simply type in "xyz". When you have typed the name of your new template and keyed Tab, a cursor will display on the blank right side of your browser. Use this panel just as you would the Editor, to enter the source code and comments that you would like to save as a template. When finished, save your template using the Save button at the bottom of the screen. To edit the template, click on the Edit button. This places your cursor into the text editor on the right side of the browser. Make your changes, then click the Save button to save it.
