OverviewClicking on the Database Manager button on the Navigation Panel will activate the Database Manager's main screen. This screen is divided into two panels, the left panel displays a tree structure of all supported databases grouped by their respective type (i.e., Access, MS SQL, IBM, DB2, Oracle) as shown in the screen shot below. To populate the tree structure, the Database Manager reads the ODBC Registry on the local workstation and retrieves a listing of all available ODBC database connections (grouped by database type) that have been configured using the Windows' ODBC Data Source Administrator tool. The Windows' ODBC Data Source Administrator tool can be found in the Windows Control Panel. At the database level, the Database Manager provides a "Point and Click" interface to enable the user to navigate from one database to another. In addition, it also provide drill down capability to display the structure (i.e., tables) of the selected database. At the table level, the Database Manager also provides a "Point and Click" user interface to drill down to the structure or the detail layout of each table within the selected database as shown in the screen shot below. Furthermore, right-clicking on a table will enable the user drill into the table to perform table level data discovery and data inspection functions such as table structure, table samples, row counts, etc. Similarly, right-clicking on a column within a table will display a list of column level data discovery and data inspection functions such as column sample, distinct values, frequency counts, min and max values, etc.
